Ahmad Immigration Law Participates in the Child and Family Network Centers' "Relay for Pre-K" Fundraiser
Fundraiser Supports Alexandria Nonprofit’s Mission to Provide Free, High-Quality Preschool Education and Support Services to Low-Income Children and Families in Northern Virginia
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Ahmad Immigration Law – a full-service immigration law firm based in Alexandria – participated this past weekend in the Child and Family Network Centers (CFNC) “Relay for Pre-K” fundraiser in support of CFNC’s mission to provide free, high-quality preschool education and support services to local children and families.
“As an Alexandria attorney and community member, I know how difficult it is for many families to get by with the high cost of living in our area, and that cost is a barrier for many parents seeking preschool options for their children. We are thrilled to support a program that provides this critical service to more than 100 at-risk children and families in our community each year, along with free, nutritional school lunches and snacks, family and health services, and a range of other supports,” said Yusuf Ahmad, Esq., principal of Ahmad Immigration Law and member of CFNC’s Programming Committee.
Thanks to the generous support of family and friends, the Ahmad Immigration Law & Friends relay team was able to raise more than $2,000 for the event. The event generated more than $46,000 in donations across relay teams and sponsors.
“I couldn’t be more excited to bring Relay for Pre-K to the Alexandria community,” said CFNC Executive Director Lisa Carter. “It is because of the hundreds of participants and dedication of our community sponsors that we are able to give 138 children the early education they need. It truly does a take a village, and I’m glad our village could walk together to support children and families right in our own neighborhoods.”
The Child and Family Network Centers provides free pre-K education and support services to 138 children each year across eight classrooms in the City of Alexandria. The organization’s holistic approach educates the whole child and family to prepare them for kindergarten. CFNC students and families are very diverse; in the 2017-2018 school year, 86 percent of its students spoke a language other than English at home. To provide the best instruction, all of CFNC’s classrooms are bilingual. For more information on the Child and Family Network Centers, please visit http://cfnc-online.org/.
